Transatlantic Seat Options

You'll be allocated a seat at check in but if you've a preference for where you would like to sit, pre-book your seat in advance of your flight. Preview our seat options available on flights to and from North America.

*In accordance with international safety regulations and Aer Lingus operating procedures, persons with reduced mobility and children under the age of 14 are not permitted to be seated at an exit row.

If you choose not to pre-book a particular seat, we'll allocate one based on remaining availability at check-in. We'll do our best to make sure that you and your travel companions are seated together, particularly if you're travelling with children, but this depends on the number of seats remaining at the time.

Purchasing an extra seat for comfort is possible by booking online or by calling your local reservations office. Charges include the relevant fare for the extra seat as well as any relevant taxes, charges and administration fees. Baggage allowance doesn't apply for additional seats purchased on transatlantic flights.

Please note that on transatlantic flights, Economy Class armrests do not fully retract into the seat-back. Therefore, purchasing an extra economy seat may not allow you to sit or lay across multiple seats. Business Class armrests are fully retractable.

Advanced Seat Selection is available to you when you purchase a Smart, Flex, Business or Business Flex Fare on our transatlantic flights. This means you get the opportunity to ensure that you sit together, have more legroom, or secure a favourite seat.

Seat selection is not available on Aerlingus.com for flights operated by our partner airlines. If your journey is partly or entirely with a partner airline, please contact them directly to choose your seat. You can find links to all our partner airlines here.

Seat pitch is defined as the space between a point on one seat and the same point on the seat in front of it. Aer Lingus seat pitch measurements will vary depending on aircraft type.

Our transatlantic fleet of aircraft (Airbus A330 and A321neo LR) all contain lie-flat Business Class seats and are 22 inches wide.

Seatbelt extensions are available on all our aircraft. They can't be pre-booked but if you need one, just let a member of cabin crew know when you're boarding. Passengers requiring a seatbelt extension unfortunately won't be able to sit at an exit row.
